Exploring the Future of Robotics Technology at Galala University
Robotics technology continues to reshape how we live and work, offering transformative potential to enhance efficiency, safety, and service quality across all industries. Recognizing this global impact, the Field of Engineering Sciences at Galala University (GU) — specifically the Mechatronics and Industrial Automation program, headed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Sabbagh and directed by Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Awad — proudly hosted its first webinar with Professor Robert Richardson, Professor of Robotics at the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds.
The webinar was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Haidar, Acting President of Galala University, Prof. Dr. Tarek Abouelmaaty, Acting Vice President for Students’ Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, Acting Vice President for International Affairs, Community Service, and Environmental Development. This event is part of GU’s ongoing series of informative academic sessions that aim to enrich the GU community’s knowledge through collaboration with leading international institutions and experts.
During the session, Prof. Richardson explored the use of exploration robotics technologies in inspecting and maintaining city infrastructure such as roads, pipes, and bridges. He highlighted how these technologies are paving the way for resilient, self-repairing cities capable of responding proactively to maintenance needs, reducing human risk, and improving sustainability.
This webinar reflects Galala University’s commitment to equipping its students with the knowledge and vision needed to lead future technological innovation — ensuring they are ready to contribute to the evolving landscape of smart and sustainable engineering solutions.
