Galala University Marks International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Violence against women and girls remains one of the most widespread and devastating human rights violations in the world today. In recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Galala University’s Equal Opportunities Office organized a special event in collaboration with the National Council for Women to raise awareness and promote meaningful action.

The event brought together students, faculty, and community leaders to discuss the prevalence, causes, and consequences of gender-based violence, while highlighting strategies for prevention, advocacy, and support for victims. Speakers emphasized the importance of education, social awareness campaigns, and legal frameworks in combating this persistent challenge.

Through workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, participants were encouraged to take an active role in creating a safer, more equitable environment, both within the university and the wider community. The initiative also underlined the critical need for collaborative efforts between academic institutions, governmental bodies, and civil society organizations to achieve lasting solutions.

By hosting this event, Galala University reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality, human rights, and social responsibility, empowering students and staff to become advocates for positive change in their communities. The event reflects GU’s ongoing dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive academic environment for all.
