Galala University Showcases Green Campus Initiatives to Minister of Health at COP27

At Galala University’s (GU) environmentally sustainable booth, Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi, GU Acting President, and Dr. Rana Zeidan, Secretary General, welcomed H.E. Prof. Dr. Khaled Abd El Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, during COP27 activities. The meeting highlighted GU’s commitment to climate action, sustainability, and innovative green technologies on campus.

Following a detailed presentation by Prof. Dr. El Shinawi, H.E. the Minister expressed his admiration for GU’s holistic approach to sustainability. Among the initiatives showcased were GU’s Green Campus project, which integrates environmentally conscious practices into everyday campus life, as well as renewable energy and desalination plants that optimize the use of natural resources. These efforts illustrate how GU is actively contributing to climate change mitigation, providing a model for other universities, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among students and staff.

The visit emphasized GU’s strategic alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030, particularly regarding sustainable energy, water resource management, and education for sustainable development. By combining infrastructure innovation with student engagement, GU continues to demonstrate that higher education institutions can lead in environmental stewardship while equipping future leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to address global climate challenges.
