Galala University Sponsors the Africa & Pan Arab Triathlon Championships 2025

Under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and with the strong support of Galala University, the Africa & Pan Arab Triathlon, Duathlon, and Aquathlon Championships 2025 were launched in the city of Galala on September 26–27. This event serves as a qualifier for the 2026 World Championships, with its results contributing directly to the international ranking system.

The championships gathered an impressive international presence, featuring competitors from over 20 countries, including Libya, Canada, Syria, Palestine, Kuwait, Algeria, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa, Togo, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, the UAE, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia, Australia, Ireland, and Egypt as the host nation. More than 800 Egyptian athletes and around 120 international players competed in this prestigious event, in addition to those on the waiting list.

The opening was attended by distinguished figures including H.E. Prof. Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports; Lt. Gen. Ahmed Nasser, President of the Egyptian, Arab, and African Triathlon Federations and Vice President of the International Triathlon Union; Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University and sponsor of the championships; as well as heads of Arab and African federations.

Major Gen. Ahmed Nasser emphasized the significance of hosting such large-scale sporting events in new Egyptian cities like Galala, highlighting their role in promoting sports tourism and positioning Egypt as a hub for international competitions.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, expressed his pride in the university’s role, stating:

“Hosting the Africa & Pan Arab Triathlon Championships at Galala University reflects our growing reputation as a leading academic and cultural hub, capable of serving the community in various fields, including sports. This championship is not only a sporting event but also a platform for cultural exchange, cooperation among Arab and African youth, and a unique opportunity to showcase Galala’s world-class infrastructure and natural environment.”

Galala University’s sponsorship of the event reaffirms its commitment to supporting youth development, strengthening ties across nations, and contributing to Egypt’s vision of making sports a bridge for peace and collaboration.
