Galala University Students Join Summer School of Food Safety in China

Galala University proudly announces that students from the Molecular Biotechnology Program participated in the Summer School of Food Safety hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.

Throughout the program, our students took part in advanced lectures covering critical topics such as antimicrobial resistance, food protein structure and functions, Chinese tea and wine culture, and frontiers in food synthetic biology. These areas of study are closely aligned with global priorities, reflecting the importance of ensuring healthy lives, promoting sustainable food systems, and advancing scientific innovation in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The experience extended beyond the classroom, offering cultural immersion through campus and city tours, traditional activities, and a field visit to Yili’s Suzhou Production Center, where students observed large-scale food production in action. Such opportunities provided them with valuable perspectives on how industry, research, and culture intersect to address pressing global challenges related to food security and public health.

The program concluded with reflections, certificate distribution, and opportunities for networking and exploration. Students returned with not only enhanced scientific knowledge but also cross-cultural experiences that will contribute to their future academic and professional growth. This initiative highlights Galala University’s commitment to advancing the SDGs by contributing to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), ensuring that our students are prepared to lead in both science and society while promoting sustainable development worldwide.
