Students from Galala University’s Architectural Design and Digital Architecture programs took part in an inspiring academic study trip to Germany from December 4 to 14, in collaboration with Kassel University and with funding from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The visit was conducted within the framework of the KassMENA – SFCH project, offering students valuable academic and cultural exposure.
During their stay in Kassel, students joined an international urban regeneration workshop focusing on post-war reconstruction and the transformation of the Fulda River. The workshop explored the city’s urban development across different historical phases, with students actively documenting Kassel’s regeneration process and engaging in discussions with experts specializing in German history and urban development.
The program continued in Berlin, where students explored the city’s architectural and urban identity through guided visits to key landmarks, including the Reichstag, Alexanderplatz, Sony Center, Berlin Museum, and Berlin Hauptbahnhof. These visits were enriched by professional insights from Egyptian–German architects, connecting academic knowledge with real-world architectural practice.
On December 13, the delegation also visited the Technical University of Berlin, where discussions were held regarding potential avenues for future academic collaboration.
The academic trip provided Galala University students with hands-on learning experiences, international exposure, and a deeper understanding of urban regeneration, cultural heritage, and contemporary architectural practices.
