The Technology of Radiology and Medical Imaging Program at Galala University participated in a regional training course on breast imaging organized by the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The course was held in Accra, Ghana, from 8 to 12 December 2025, bringing together medical imaging professionals from across the African continent.

The five-day training course was officially inaugurated at the Mensvic Grand Hotel and aimed to advance regional expertise in breast cancer detection and diagnosis, with a strong focus on enhancing early screening practices and imaging quality.

Galala University was represented by Prof. Hend Galal Eldin from the Technology of Radiology and Medical Imaging Program, reflecting the university’s active engagement in regional and international capacity-building initiatives within the healthcare sector.

The program featured a comprehensive combination of theoretical lectures and hands-on practical sessions, with particular emphasis on mammography and breast ultrasound techniques. Participants also engaged in interactive discussions and practical workshops that encouraged the exchange of expertise and best practices among specialists from different countries.

Through participation in this regional course, Galala University continues to support the continuous professional development of its academic staff and contribute to collaborative efforts aimed at improving breast cancer care and imaging standards across Africa.
