Galala University’s Faculty of Nursing has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by securing first place at the conference titled “Linking Theoretical Education with Practical Application in Light of Digital Transformation in the Healthcare Sector,” held on June 17, 2026, alongside African Health Excon 2026 and organized by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation.
The achievement came following the nomination of the Faculty by Prof. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, and under the patronage of Prof. Gehan Ghoneimy, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing. The faculty was selected to represent the University in a scientific competition that brought together several Egyptian universities from various healthcare disciplines, including faculties of medicine and dentistry.
The winning recognition was awarded in appreciation of the outstanding presentation delivered by Nursing students, which featured innovative ideas and practical recommendations supporting digital transformation while enhancing healthcare quality and patient safety.
The students presented a distinguished project entitled:
“Enhancing Patient Safety and Nursing Care Quality Through Digital Systems in Healthcare Settings”
The presentation was academically supervised by Teaching Assistants Aya Allah Othman and Sherif Ashraf.
The project explored the role of digital systems and electronic health records in improving patient safety and enhancing the quality of nursing care within healthcare institutions. It also highlighted practical experiences gained through clinical training at hospitals affiliated with the General Authority for Healthcare and demonstrated the positive impact of digital transformation on healthcare service development, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.
Additionally, the presentation emphasized the importance of modern health technologies in supporting clinical decision-making, improving electronic documentation, and strengthening communication among healthcare team members to achieve the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
The students proposed several forward-looking recommendations aimed at accelerating digital transformation within the healthcare sector and enhancing clinical education. Key recommendations included establishing a “Digital Safety Ambassadors” program for students, expanding training opportunities on digital healthcare systems, developing continuous professional development programs for healthcare professionals, strengthening interprofessional healthcare education, and creating digital competency portfolios to assess and document students’ digital skills.
The presentation received widespread praise and strong engagement from both the judging panel and conference attendees, who commended the relevance of the topic, the quality of the scientific content, and the practicality and applicability of the proposed recommendations.
The conference judging panel included senior healthcare and academic leaders from across Egypt, reflecting the high level of competition and the significance of the achievement.
This accomplishment highlights the exceptional academic caliber of Galala University’s Nursing students and their ability to represent the University with distinction in prestigious scientific forums.
