Galala University, Egypt – June 2, 2026 – Galala University (GU) has announced the successful development of Egypt’s first MRI Training Simulation System (GU-HMRIS), an innovative educational solution created to advance practical radiology technology education and strengthen workforce readiness in the healthcare sector.

The project, titled “From Theory to Practice: Designing and Implementing Egypt’s First MRI Training Simulation System (GU-HMRIS),” was developed by fourth-year students in the Technology of Radiology and Medical Imaging Program under the supervision of Dr. Hend Jalal El-Din, Founder and Principal Investigator of the initiative, with the support of Teaching Assistant Ali Badawy and Assistant Lecturer Islam Ibrahim.

The initiative was launched under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, and Dr. Adel El-Ged, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, and direction of Dr. Nesreen Radwan, director of Technology of Radiology and Medical Imaging program reflecting the university’s commitment to advancing innovation, applied learning, and research excellence in alignment with Egypt’s higher education development strategy.

The GU-HMRIS platform provides a realistic and interactive training environment that enables students to practice essential MRI procedures, including patient positioning, receiver coil handling, examination protocols, and workflow management. By offering hands-on experience before clinical placement, the system enhances technical competency, confidence, and patient safety.

As Egypt’s first locally developed MRI training simulator, GU-HMRIS presents a cost-effective and scalable solution for academic institutions seeking to strengthen practical radiology technology education. The project contributes to improving educational outcomes while supporting the preparation of highly qualified healthcare technologist professionals equipped to meet evolving industry demands.

Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi emphasized that innovation and experiential learning remain central to Galala University’s mission. He noted that the project exemplifies the university’s approach to transforming academic knowledge into impactful solutions that address real-world healthcare challenges and prepare graduates for both local and international markets.

Dr. Hend Jalal El-Din highlighted that the successful development of GU-HMRIS demonstrates the growing research and innovation capabilities of Galala University and its students. She reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting student-led initiatives that contribute to the advancement of healthcare education and the broader healthcare sector in Egypt.

Galala University also extended its appreciation to IMed Inc. for its sponsorship and support of the project. This collaboration played a key role in transforming the concept into a practical educational innovation and underscores the importance of partnerships between academia and industry in advancing healthcare education and training in line with international standard.
