Galala University welcomed H.E. Fumio Iwai, Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, on an official visit that highlighted the university’s growing academic and cultural partnership with Japan. The visit included a tour of the Galala University Peace Memorial Center, established in collaboration with Hiroshima University, and a ceremony marking the donation of 172 books from The Nippon Foundation to enrich the university’s academic library and foster cultural and knowledge exchange between Egypt and Japan.
During his visit, Ambassador Iwai toured the university’s campus and explored its academic and research facilities, praising Galala University’s modern learning environment and its commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi, President of Galala University, emphasized that the Ambassador’s visit represents an important milestone in the university’s international engagement and reflects the strength of the academic and cultural ties between Egypt and Japan.
“Galala University places great importance on building strategic partnerships with leading international universities and institutions to prepare graduates who are capable of competing on a global scale,” said Prof. El Shinawi.
He added, “We are proud of our partnership with Hiroshima University, which led to the establishment of the Peace Memorial Center on our campus as a platform for promoting the values of peace, tolerance, and intercultural dialogue. We also highly appreciate The Nippon Foundation’s generous donation of this valuable collection of books, which represents an important academic and cultural resource that will enrich teaching, research, and our students’ exposure to global knowledge.”
For his part, H.E. Fumio Iwai expressed his pleasure at visiting Galala University for the first time, saying, “I am delighted to participate in today’s ceremony marking The Nippon Foundation’s donation of 172 books. It is also a pleasure to visit the Peace Memorial Center established through the collaboration between Hiroshima University and Galala University.”
The Ambassador added, “The first thing that impressed me was the university’s spacious and peaceful campus, which provides an ideal environment for learning. Although Galala University was established in 2020, it has already graduated students who are making meaningful contributions to society. I look forward to seeing even more Galala University graduates taking on leadership roles that contribute to Egypt’s future.”
