As part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s vision to promote the internationalization of higher education and strengthen global academic partnerships, Galala University (GU) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), marking another significant milestone in the University’s strategy to expand its international network and foster academic and research collaboration with leading global institutions.

The Letter of Intent was signed during the official visit of a UPTM delegation to Galala University, reinforcing both institutions’ shared commitment to developing impactful partnerships that enrich education, research, and innovation.

The agreement establishes a strategic framework for collaboration across several priority disciplines, including Technology, Business Administration, Business Information Systems (BIS), Engineering, and Languages. The partnership will support joint research projects in engineering and information technology, student exchange programs that provide international academic and cultural experiences, faculty exchange initiatives to facilitate knowledge transfer and collaborative teaching and research, as well as curriculum development aligned with global trends and evolving labor market needs.

The visit also featured a distinguished lecture delivered by Dr. Sharifah Syahirah Binti Syed Sheikh, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia, titled “Global Women Leadership and Academic Collaboration Opportunities with Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia.” The session brought together Galala University’s leadership, faculty members, and students to discuss the growing role of women in higher education leadership and the importance of international academic collaboration in preparing future-ready graduates. The lecture also highlighted the academic and research opportunities available to Galala University students and faculty through UPTM.

Commenting on the partnership, Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi, President of Galala University, emphasized that the University continues to strengthen its international presence by establishing strategic partnerships with distinguished universities worldwide.

“The signing of this Letter of Intent with Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia represents another important step in expanding Galala University’s global academic partnerships. Such collaborations directly enhance the quality of education and scientific research while creating meaningful opportunities for student and faculty exchange. International partnerships have become an essential pillar in preparing graduates who possess the knowledge, skills, and global perspective required to compete in today’s international workforce,” Prof. Dr. El Shinawi stated.

For her part, Dr. Sharifah Syahirah Binti Syed Sheikh, Vice Chancellor of UPTM, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that the partnership reflects the importance of building knowledge bridges that transcend geographical boundaries and contribute to preparing future leaders driven by innovation, academic excellence, and international cooperation.

The visit concluded with the official signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent and the exchange of commemorative shields between the leadership of both universities, marking the beginning of a new chapter of academic and research collaboration that will promote innovation, knowledge exchange, and global engagement while supporting both institutions’ commitment to developing graduates equipped for the knowledge-based economy.
