Galala University proudly announced that Youssef Husseiny Fathy Moawad, a student in the Artificial Intelligence Sciences (AIS) Program at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, has been selected as one of the 2026 IAF Emerging Space Leaders by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF). The prestigious global program recognizes 40 outstanding emerging leaders in the space sector each year, marking another international achievement that reflects the excellence of Galala University students and their ability to compete on the global stage.
This milestone is particularly significant as Youssef becomes the first Egyptian undergraduate student to be selected for the program since its launch in 2008. He is also the fourth Egyptian to join the distinguished list of IAF Emerging Space Leaders, highlighting the growing global recognition of Egyptian talent in technology, innovation, and future sciences.
As part of this achievement, Youssef will represent the Arab Republic of Egypt at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026), which will be held in Italy, bringing together leading scientists, researchers, policymakers, and space industry experts from around the world.
Commenting on the achievement, Prof. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, expressed his pride in the university’s students for continuously achieving international recognition. He added that Youssef’s selection as the first Egyptian undergraduate to join this distinguished program demonstrates the value of investing in advanced education, scientific research, and international opportunities.
