Biography
Prof. Zakaria M. Abd El-Fattah is a Professor of Solid State Physics at Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt. He obtained his PhD in 2012 from the Applied Physics Department, University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU), San Sebastian, Spain. Prof. Abd El-Fattah has been a regular visitor of the Nanophysics Lab at the Center of Material Physics (CFM) and Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) in San Sebastian, Spain, and was granted two postdoctoral positions at Würzburg University (Germany, 2015) and Institute of Photonic Sciences ICFO (Spain, 2017). Prof. Abd El-Fattah is actively involved in teaching core physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, at different university in Egypt, including Galala Univ., Helwan Univ., and South Valley Univ. He is also co-supervising several M.Sc. and PhD students. His research interests are focused on theoretical and experimental work on condensed matter physics and surface science with diverse topics including atomic superlattices, molecular networks, topological insulators, spin-polarized alloys, atomic-scale plasmonics, and recently, graphene nanostructures and emerging 2D materials. He is collaborating actively with leading researchers worldwide (Spain, Germany, Japan, China) on topics related to modelling/simulation of electronic systems and devices, and also working in other research disciplines, such as nanotechnology, amorphous glasses, and perovskite materials. Prof. Abd El-Fattah is the author of more than 50 articles published in peer reviewed international journals.
