Biography

An architect, academic, and scholar, he earned his Doctorate in Architecture from the University of Michigan in 1990. Holding academic and administrative roles at Galala, Ain Shams, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, and Dar Al Hekma Universities, he teaches design studios, research methods, environmental studies, creativity, professional practice, and more.

His research explores social and cultural aspects, sustainable architecture, architectural education, and the impact of globalization. With numerous published research papers and book chapters, he actively participates in international conferences. In addition to academia, he practices as a professional architect and consultant, showcasing a diverse and impactful career.

Projects

  • 1978 to date: Participated as Consultant Architect for several private and public institutions as jury member, design submissions reviewer, selection of international consultants, value engineering workshops, preparation of design briefs and visions, schematic design, working drawings and construction supervision.
  • 2010 to 2016: Consultant, Member of the New College of Engineering Building Committee, Qatar University. Assignments included development of preliminary requirements and space program, cost estimations, scheduling, review and selection of consultants, attending meetings and review submittals.
  • 2002 to 2009. Consultant for the Office of Vice President for Planning, New Kuwait University Campus Master Plan and Buildings. Assignments included selection of international consultants for the development of Master Plan for the New University Campus in Shdidadiyah, review of Master Plan phases submissions, and preparation of studies, cost estimates and project implementation alternatives.
  • 2004 to 2010, Private Universities Council, Private Universities Facilities Evaluation Committee. Assignments included review of private universities facilities designs, preparation of design and planning guidelines, and evaluation of existing facilities.
  • 1990 to 1993, Architect, Commissioned to design several projects in Egypt: Touristic Villages, Industrial Factories, Residential, Schools, Shopping Centers, and Public Buildings.
