Galala University today signed a cooperation agreement with the Hiroshima University of Japan in research and academic cooperation at the premises of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. His excellency, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Ambassador Masaki Noki, Japanese Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, attended the signing event. The Egyptian side signed the agreement, represented by Prof.Dr. Ashraf Haider Ghalib, Acting President of Galala University, and from the Japanese side, Prof. Ochi Mitsuo, President of Hiroshima University.
Dr. Adel Al-Adawi witnessed the signing ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the board of Trustees of Galala University and the Former Minister of Health, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Assistant to Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Projects and Universities, Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, Acting Vice President of the University for International Cooperation, Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Tarek Abou Elmaaty, Acting Vice President for the Academic Affairs. Other officials from the ministry also attended the event, including Prof. Dr. Ashraf al-Azazi, Head of Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, Prof.Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Advisor and Ministry Spokesperson, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharqawi, Assistant to the Minister for Finance and investment, and H. Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar signed a letter of Intent between the Ministry of Higher Education and Hiroshima University earlier in April 2019, on the sidelines of his visit to Japan to participate in the seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). The two parties agreed that Hiroshima University would cooperate with Galala university, represented by Engineering, Dentistry, and Japanese language education, by hosting fifteen academic staff members. Prof.Dr. Ashraf Haider Ghalib expressed his happiness with this outstanding cooperation, saying, “There are vast areas of academic and research exchange programs, shared between the two universities. Both universities are looking for opportunities to foster friendship and mutual understanding. To promote higher education and scientific research in Egypt, Japan is one of the leading countries in education reform. He also stated that this cooperation achieves the vision of Galala University to prepare a graduate capable of competing in the local, regional and international labor market under the state strategy and the political leadership to develop the system of higher education and scientific research in Egypt and to achieve the strategic goal of establishing smart National Universities in line with the stage
Dr. Mohammed El-Shenawi also confirmed his happiness with this agreement, saying, “We at Galala University share with Hiroshima University the same visions and plans for the future. We aspire to provide an educational process, as per international standards, and to hold further cooperation to enhance the capabilities of our faculty and students."
Dr. Tarek Abou Elmaaty also pointed out that the scientific partnerships that the university is looking for are not just traditional partnerships, but rather real opportunities for scientific exchange at all levels, saying, “there is no doubt that this cooperation helps to achieve the university's vision, through the graduation of batches with scientific competence capable of building society, because this cooperation provides advanced educational systems, curricula, enhancing scientific and academic dialogue between both parties.
