Electronics Engineering & Communications Program

Program Overview

We live in the age of information, where communication and information processing are at our modern society's heart.  Intelligent transportation systems, smart cities, traffic safety, positioning and navigation, E-Health, and cloud services rely on our ability to store, share, process, and deliver massive amounts of data. In a constantly and rapidly evolving field, you, as a communication engineer, will be needed to rethink, design, and build the systems of the future to enable the interconnected world.

Communications technology is one of the most sophisticated and rapidly changing application areas of electronics. It pervades our daily lives through mass communication networks and person-to-person communications based on fixed and wireless networks. Communications also now involve a wide range of information, not just data, but also voice, multi-media, and video.

Electronics-based products play a vital role in our daily lives. Examples include diagnostic equipment used in modern hospitals, satellites, wireless communication technologies and consumer electronics at home. At GU, our research-led degree means our graduates can work at the forefront of the major areas of electronic engineering, and you will combine theory with practical and project work, turning ideas into real systems.

Spectacular advances in electronics, computing, and communications have made a huge impact on modern life. Studying Electronic and Communications Engineering at GU will make you a part of this revolution and gain the knowledge and skills to make your own mark in this exciting field. This program covers all aspects of electronic engineering, which means that you can enter any electronics branch on graduation.

The program prepares students to succeed in a communications engineer's essential job duties, which might include finding solutions to problems in network design, mobile communications, internet protocols, networking protocols, and data servicing requirements. This program is designed for students interested in computational programming and mathematics within the broader electrical engineering field.

Degree Requirements

In order to graduate, you need to study the following:

University Requirement: (14+6) = 20 Credit Hours.

General Field Requirement: (33+0) = 33 Credit Hours.

General Specialty Requirement: (64+3) = 67 Credit Hours.

Minor Specialty Requirements:(30+15) = 45 Credit Hours.

Total: (141+24) = 165 Credit Hours.

Learning Outcomes

After graduation, you will be able to:

  • Design and develop electronic circuitry from discrete components to circuits and system levels.
  • Apply control theory and measurement principles for industrial variables, signal conversion, adaptation and treatment.
  • Design, model and analyze electronic, microwave, optical, and communication systems or components for a specific application and identify the tools required to optimize this design.

Test and evaluate the performance and suitability of energy systems.

Potential Career Opportunities

Electronic engineering is an exciting and fast-paced industry. You could work in telecommunications, manufacturing, aerospace, or robotics. This program will prepare you for a challenging career in electronic and communications engineering in areas such as design support, development, and production. .Studying this program will allow you to work in the planning, design, manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic telecommunications services or equipment, guaranteeing signal generation, transmission, and reception. Thanks to this knowledge, you will be able to develop multiple activities in:

  • Technology companies.
  • Research and development centers.
  • Telecom Operators.
  • The electronic and electrical industry.
