New Protocol between Galala University and the National Council for Women

Prof. Dr. Ashraf Haider Ghaleb, Acting President of Galala University, welcomed Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council For Women, to sign a protocol of cooperation between the two parties, to begin activating an action plan to integrate the role of women and activate the principle of equal opportunities within different institutions. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed El-Shenawi, Acting Vice President for International Affairs, Community Service and Environmental Development, Deans of various fields of study, Staff members, and university students.

This visit is the first of its kind for the campus of Galala University, especially that the university has four women who hold the position of deans of various fields of study, including Prof. Dr. Salma Dawara, Dean of Medicine Field, and one of the members of the National Council For Women, Prof Dr. Jehan Ghoneimi, Dean of Nursing Field, Prof. Dr. Samia Al-Azab, Dean of Basic Sciences field. Other women hold the positions of Vice Deans, including Prof.Dr. Yuna Al-Shanawi, Vice Dean of Dentistry field; Prof. Dr. Rania Nakheel, Vice Dean of Arts and Design field and Prof. Dr. Inas El Sayed, Vice Dean of Physical Therapy field.

At the beginning of the visit, Professor Dr. Ashraf Haider Ghaleb presented an introduction to the university and the study programs available to current students and reviewed the university’s plans, such as the construction of a 577-bed on-campus hospital, as well as the establishment of the Galala Academy of Sciences and Scientific Research. During his speech, he also stressed that the university offers women the opportunity to work in leadership positions, saying, “Believing that education is a guaranteed right for all, so since the beginning of the university’s opening late last year, we have promised to attract the best academic staff and give women opportunities to hold various academic and administrative positions. We do not forget the principle of equality between students in the educational process."

During the visit, Dr. Maya Morsi expressed her happiness to visit Galala University as an educational entity, which follows European universities’ lines by international standards. She wished more success to the acting president of the university, Vice Presidents, Deans, Vice Deans, and staff members, saying, “I was honored today to visit the university, which is a living model for modern Egypt, adopted by the wise political leadership, led by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the state of Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli.

Dr. Maya and the Acting President of the university opened the Office of Equal Opportunity on campus. It aims to develop supporting mechanisms and activities that enhance women’s role in achieving the university’s mission and establishing the principle of equal opportunities between the university’s gender team by developing their skills and abilities and preparing them as leaders.

At the end of the visit, the university’s acting president presented the university’s shield to Dr. Maya, who inspected various facilities and buildings on campus, which has a capacity of 173 acres and accommodates 25,000 students.
