Computer Engineering exists at the intersection of technology and innovation. Being a dynamic professional field, computer engineering offers varied career paths in both hardware engineering (e.g., microprocessors) and software development—each of which drives computing advances in industries ranging from aerospace to healthcare. It blends computer science and electrical engineering to further digital technology advancements, computer networking, and computer systems. In turn, computer engineers use their extensive knowledge of hardware, software design and computer programming to make computing platforms and applications more efficient and effective. Seamlessly integrating the latest innovations, computer engineers develop new computer hardware, design and implement software applications, and enhance networks and communication systems' capabilities.
Computer Engineers analyze, design, develop and program all types of information processing systems, commonly known as computers. Yet, the application of these systems goes far beyond simple computation. Computer applications are central to modern communications, health care, education, entertainment, and industry. As a computer engineering student at Galala University, you'll get the fundamental skills you need to ensure your long-term employability in a rapidly changing field. You'll also work with cutting-edge technologies in electronics, digital systems, circuit fabrication, and other areas.
Computer Science vs. Computer Engineering:
- Computer Science started as a branch of Mathematics, while Computer Engineering began (and still is considered by some) as a branch of Electrical Engineering.
- Computer Science Students learn about computing theory, programming, environments, algorithms, data security, transfer, etc. Computer Engineering students discover how to develop, prototype, and test microchips, circuits, processors, conductors, and any other components used in computer devices or systems (e.g., supercomputers, smartphones, laptops, servers, IoT gadgets). They also develop firmware, an essential type of software that allows operating systems and applications to take full advantage of the hardware.
- Computer scientists work with computational theories, powerful algorithms, and mathematical models, which are used to develop software programs and systems. On the other hand, computer engineers develop the hardware and firmware on which software and systems run.

- Embedded Systems & Internet of things.
- Cloud Computing.
- High-Performance Computing.
- Computers Security.
For graduation , you need to study the following credit hours;
University Requirement: 20 Credit Hours.
Mathematics & Basic Science: 39 Credit Hours.
Computer Science & Engineering: 39 Credit Hours.
AI science & Engineering: 9 Credit Hours.
Advanced Specially Requirement: 45 Credit Hours.
Biomedical Informatics: 0 Credit Hours.
Project & Training: 8 Credit Hours.
Total: 160 Credit Hours.
