About the Course

Welcome to the Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Course at Galala University — a vital training experience designed to empower you with the knowledge and skills to respond confidently in emergency situations.

This course is not just about learning CPR or first aid; it’s about building the confidence to act when it matters most. Many people hesitate in emergencies due to fear of doing the wrong thing. That’s why the course emphasizes recognizing emergencies, calling for help, and taking action — safely and effectively.

You’ll learn how to assess a scene, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and understand Good Samaritan laws that protect first aid responders. The course materials include all the essential information you need to perform life-saving CPR and first aid procedures, and you’ll receive hands-on coaching from certified instructors.

While course videos will guide you through many procedures, reading the provided e-book before and after the session is key to fully grasping and retaining the material.

Successful Course Completion

To successfully complete the course, you must:

  • Actively participate in all sessions
  • Practice and demonstrate all required lifesaving skills
  • Pass the final assessment

Upon completion, you will receive an official Heartsaver® Course Completion Card accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) — valid for 2 years.

What You Will Learn

CPR AED Course Objectives
By the end of the CPR AED training, you will be able to:

  • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
  • Understand the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize when someone needs CPR
  • Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Deliver effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask
  • Use an AED on adults and children
  • Assist a choking adult, child, or infant
  • Respond to opioid overdose emergencies
  • Prevent and manage drowning-related emergencies

Note: Specific course content may vary depending on the selected topics.

Course Duration

The full Heartsaver® program is conducted over two days:

  • Day 1: First Aid Course (5–7 hours)
  • Day 2: CPR and AED Course (5–7 hours)

The program includes two courses, which can be taken individually or together:
