what is scenography?
Scenography is the art of creating performance environments; it can be composed of sound, light, clothing, performance, structure and space.
With more and more TV dramas, reality shows and awards going on air every other day as well as theatre dramas showing up, there is an increased demand for professionals who can creatively design the sets and props used in the TV programs or plays. If you want to carve your career aligned with the previously mentioned industry, the most suitable career option is Scenography.
Students of this program acquire skills of graphic communication – manual and digital. They also study camera & lighting, costumes of theatre & cinema, puppet theatre, cinema & theatre constructions and schools of directions. Furthermore, they learn history, styles and theories of interior design & furniture. Through the Program of Scenography, students and designers will recognize the higher-order thinking levels related to the creative, innovative and analytical thinking processes of theatre and cinema scenic design. Design and practice will create a cultural hub in Galala University that could be positively effective on the community of the surrounding environment. scenography students will learn to develop as visual artists bringing their abilities to serve the story being told. They will work both on location and in the studio, and collaborate closely with directors, producers, cinematographers.
University Requirements: 20 Credit Hours
General Field Requirements: (6-11) Credit Hours
General Specialty Requirements: (109-125) Credit Hours
Total: (140-144) = 142 Credit Hours + 9 Training Credit Hours
Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Work as artists, to research, develop and implement artistic and architectural projects in the wide field of scenography, collectively as well as individually.
- Apply Knowledge of theories in theatre and cinema scenic design development.

Scenographers can work at a high national and international level There are also opportunities in the field of costume design, exhibition and museum design, in architecture and art in public spaces, in film and video production and different exhibition spaces in urban environments and natural landscapes.
