Tarek Abo El Maaty
Professor Doctor Tarek Abou Elmaaty is Galala University's Academic Affairs Vice President . He received his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Mansoura where he was appointed as the head of Textile Dyeing & Finishing department . He served as the Vice Dean of education and academic affairs before becoming the Dean of Faculty of Applied Art. Then, he was appointed as Vice President of Damietta University for academic affairs from 2015 to 2019
He did his first postdoctoral at Keel University, UK in 1999-2001 where he joined the Keel environmental science group. In 2004, he won the TWAS-UNISCO research grant and joined the group of Prof. S. Sankraraman, IIT, Chennai, India where he worked on the Synthesis of Macrocyclic molecules. In 2005, he became a Fulbright fellow and joined the group of Prof. Castle, ISU,USA for his second post-doctoral studies where he began his research on pheromones. He received the Matsumae Fellowship and joined Prof. Okubayashi’s group in KIT, Japan, and specialized in dyeing and finishing of fabrics under supercritical carbon dioxide. By then, he received a number of young faculty awards including the best researcher Award, Publication Award and recently he won the gold medal (textile field) in Cairo Innovates for two consecutive cycles in 2018 & 2019. He has three patents in the field of textile chemical technology registered at ASRT.
Professor Doctor Tarek Abou Elmaaty's current research focuses on applications of nanoparticles in textile dyeing and finishing as well as the synthesis of new dyes for supercritical carbon dioxide applications. He served as an editorial board member of the Journal of Current Organic Chemistry since 2019; a reviewer for many international journals as well as a member of the scientific committee of many international conferences. He is a member of ACS (American chemical society) and RCS (Royal society of chemistry). Also, he served as a member in the scientific committee of the promotion of professors in the Applied Arts sector from 2016-2019. Recently, he established and co-managed the first-of-its-kind lab in Egypt and the middle east “CO-Build Chinese-Egypt SCF dyeing international laboratory”. He was assigned to establish the Faculty of Textile Sciences & Engineering at the New Mansoura University and then became a rapporteur for the Field of Art and Design in the new Ahlya universities from 2018 until now through his work as a member of the regulations committee.
