We Innovate 2025–2026

A Creative Leap into the Future

Galala University proudly announces the launch of We Innovate 2025–2026, the new creative edition of its flagship innovation and research funding initiative. The program is designed to empower students and faculty members to transform innovative ideas and applied research into tangible solutions that address societal challenges and support sustainable development.

About the Initiative

We Innovate 2025–2026 reflects Galala University’s commitment to fostering creativity, interdisciplinary collaboration, applied research, and entrepreneurship. The initiative positions students as active creators of knowledge and supports faculty-led innovation aligned with national priorities and global trends.

The program integrates education, research, and community engagement to generate real-world impact and strengthen Galala University’s role as a regional hub for innovation-driven learning.

Purpose and Vision

The initiative aims to:

  • Empower students to develop innovative, applied research projects
  • Strengthen faculty mentorship and student–faculty collaboration
  • Translate research outputs into practical solutions, prototypes, or publications
  • Support projects aligned with Egypt Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Strategic Themes for 2025–2026

Submitted projects should align with one or more of the following priority themes:

  1. AI-Driven Research & Digital Transformation
  2. Sustainability, Environment & Climate Action
  3. Entrepreneurship & Commercialization
  4. Health Innovation & Biomedical Research
  5. Virtual Reality & Creative Industries
  6. Human-Centered & Inclusive Innovation
  7. Digital Economy & Future Workforce Development

Funding Framework

  • Total available funding: 1,000,000 EGP
  • Maximum funding per project: 50,000 EGP
  • Project duration: Up to 12 months

Funding Disbursement

  • First installment: 30,000 EGP upon project approval (for tools, materials, analyses, and research activities)
  • Final installment: Based on publication outcome after project completion:
    •  20,000 EGP – Q1 journal
    • 15,000 EGP – Q2 journal
    • 10,000 EGP – Q3 journal
    • 5,000 EGP – Q4 journal

Funding is administered through the Research and Innovation Support Office (RISO).

Eligibility Criteria

Research Team Composition

Each project must include at least three members, comprising:

  • One Principal Investigator (PI): full-time faculty member
  • One Teaching Assistant (TA) or Laboratory Specialist (LS)
  • Up to four undergraduate and/or postgraduate students

Interdisciplinary teams across faculties are strongly encouraged.

Student Participation

  • Students must be officially enrolled in Galala University programs
  • Participation must be active across design, implementation, and analysis phases

Project Requirements

Proposals must demonstrate:

  • Strong scientific and academic merit
  • Clear applied outcomes (solutions, models, prototypes, or innovations)
  • Alignment with SDGs or pressing local/national challenges
  • A realistic implementation plan with milestones and deliverables
  • A justified and compliant project budget

Projects with commercialization or patent potential are given priority.

Evaluation Process

Projects will be assessed through a structured peer-review process conducted by a University Jury Committee:

  • Each proposal is reviewed by two independent reviewers
  • Evaluation criteria include originality, feasibility, impact, sustainability, and interdisciplinary value
  • Final approval is endorsed by the University Council

Expected Outputs & Project Closure

Upon completion, funded teams must submit:

  • Final technical and financial reports
  • At least one scientific publication in a Scopus or Web of Science indexed journal (Q1–Q4)
  • Proper acknowledgment of Galala University funding in all outputs

Conference participation may be supported if a paper resulting from the project is accepted and presented.

 

Intellectual Property & Innovation

  • Galala University holds joint intellectual property rights for funded outputs
  • Patent applications are encouraged through RISO
  • The University manages IP protection, licensing, and commercialization

  • Program announcement & applications open: 15 November 2025
  • Deadline for submission: 31 December 2025
