Galala University Students Visit “Tabat El Shagara” as Part of the “Know Your Country” Program
Patriotism lies not only in loving our country but also in understanding its history, sacrifices, and heroes. To instill this awareness among students, Galala University’s Office of Student Life (OSL) launched the inspiring program “Know Your Country.” The initiative aims to strengthen students’ connection to Egypt’s rich heritage by giving them the opportunity to explore key historical sites that shaped the nation’s identity.
As part of this program, #GU_students embarked on an educational field trip to “Tabat El Shagara” in Ismailia—one of Egypt’s most significant historical landmarks. The site played a vital role during the 1973 October War, as it was the location where the Egyptian army demonstrated exceptional heroism and strategic brilliance in seizing Israeli strongholds along the Bar Lev Line.
During the visit, students learned about the valor, discipline, and unity of Egyptian soldiers who fought to reclaim their land and dignity. The experience was not only informative but also deeply emotional, allowing participants to reflect on the meaning of sacrifice, national pride, and perseverance.
The “Know Your Country” program continues to align with Galala University’s vision of shaping well-rounded individuals—students who are not only academically outstanding but also deeply aware of their national identity and responsibilities as the future leaders of Egypt.
