Material engineers, who graduate from this program, can interpret and control the chemical processes in the materials and change them by the use of various technologies. A graduated Materials Engineer will define and describe the physical and chemical processes happening in material systems with mathematical tools, and with special consideration to thermodynamics and kinetics’ regularities. Also, materials and manufacturing engineering are a key technology for environmentally sustainable development, hence, the importance of materials engineering is growing in society.

Degree Requirements

In order to graduate, you need to study the following:

University Requirement: (14+6) = 20 Credit Hours.

General Field Requirement: (33+0) = 33 Credit Hours.

General Specialty Requirement: (64+3) = 67 Credit Hours.

Minor Specialty Requirements: (30+15) = 45 Credit Hours.

Total: (141+24) = 165 Credit Hours.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  • Design systems, machines, tools, and products to implement proper standards and develop the necessary calculations, construction and working drawings.
  • Implement basics of industrial engineering to analyze, plan and design production systems.
  • Select materials suitable for specific applications.
  • Recognize the relationship between structure, properties and performance of engineering materials (metals, polymers, ceramics, compositions, and functional materials) for multiple applications (mechanical, civil, electrical and electronic).
  • Choose or invent the material and the appropriate manufacturing method to obtain the required properties for any design.
