About the Course

Welcome to the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course — the foundation for saving lives during cardiac emergencies.

In this course, you’ll learn essential high-quality CPR skills for victims of all ages and how to respond both as an individual rescuer and as part of a team. These skills will empower you to:

  • Recognize the signs of cardiac arrest
  • Activate emergency response systems promptly
  • Respond with speed, accuracy, and confidence

Cardiac arrest remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with nearly half of the cases going unwitnessed. Survival rates remain low, with fewer than 10% of adult patients treated by EMS surviving to hospital discharge. This course equips you with the tools and training to make a critical difference in these life-threatening situations.

What You Will Learn

The BLS course focuses on delivering high-quality CPR and responding to a range of emergencies. After successfully completing the course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of high-quality CPR and its effect on survival
  • Identify and apply the Chain of Survival steps
  • Recognize signs that CPR is needed
  • Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants
  • Understand the early use and demonstrate the correct use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • Provide effective ventilation using a barrier device
  • Work effectively as a team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • Relieve choking in adults, children, and infants

Course Duration

This is a one-day course, including examination time, lasting approximately 5 to 7 hours.
