Galala University Showcases Its Green Campus Efforts at COP27

In line with its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, Galala University (GU) participated in an open discussion organized by the Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS) in the Green Zone during COP27.

Representing the university, Dr. Rana Zeidan, Secretary General of Galala University, took part in a session titled “Academia and Climate Changes,” where she shed light on the significant efforts exerted by GU to maintain the pristine natural environment surrounding its campus.

Dr. Zeidan emphasized that Galala University, located 700 meters above sea level in a unique mountainous setting, was designed with sustainability at its core. She explained how the university integrates green practices into its operations through the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar power, and advanced water desalination systems.

She also highlighted the vital role of international collaborations between Galala University and numerous Arab and foreign institutions, which aim to enhance research, innovation, and sustainable development strategies. These partnerships reflect GU’s long-term vision to lead by example as a Green Campus and support Egypt’s national agenda for climate action.

Galala University’s active presence at COP27 underscores its dedication to aligning higher education with global environmental goals and fostering a new generation of environmentally conscious leaders.
