Metallic Corrosion, Monitoring and Evaluation

Sun 1 September to Mon 2 September Or Sun 15 September to Mon 16 September
Workshop Code (C1)

Metallic Corrosion Monitoring and Evaluation

The workshop aims to explain the basics of metallic corrosion and how to assess it using electrochemical methods. It spans two days, with a 2-hour lecture each day, followed by a break, and ends with a 4-hour lab session for hands-on training in characterizing different types of corrosion and measuring corrosion rates. The lab also covers methods for corrosion protection. The workshop can be customized based on participants’ expertise and interests in electrochemical corrosion and control applications.

Day-1

  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Introduction to Metallic corrosion principles
  • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Corrosion Rate Measurements Tafel Extrapolation Method
  • 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Break
  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Hands-on activity: Tafel Plot Experiments and calculations

Day-2

  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Linear polarization resistance (LPR) and Weight Loss (WL) techniques for corrosion rate Measurements
  • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) technique
  • 12:30 PM– 1:00 PM: Break
  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Hands-on activity: LPR and EIS measurements
