Biography

He has achieved his PhD degree in laser photonics and modern optics, from Laser Photonics Research Group, University of Manchester, UK, in 2003. He has achieved an “Associate Professor” title in High power laser technology and their applications in October 2009, and he was a lecturer and faculty member within Engineering Physics Department, Military Technical College (MTC), Cairo, Egypt up to 2018.

He was a Visiting Professor in Townes Laser Institute, CREOL College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA, from September 2012 to April 2013 in the field of Mega-Watt High Power Fiber Laser and its applications in Material Processing and Laser Remote Sensing. He has achieved a “Professor Doctor” title in High Power Laser Photonics and its Applications in February 2015.

Professor of Laser Photonics and Modern Optics.

His field of research interests are:

  • The design of new types of laser sources operating at NIR and MIR bands like diode pumped high-power solid-state laser (DPSS), and diode pumped high power fiber lasers (DPFL) and their military applications as well as in industries and material processing.
  • Laser application techniques in the fields of:
  • Electrical & communication systems, and Laser in remote sensing.
  • Biomedical engineering and medicine like; optical imaging, laser induced photoemission, laser induced photothermal and laser induced photo-acoustic.
  • Material Processing and Industrial Engineering.

Hyper-spectral Imaging of laser detection & diagnosis of; human diseases, materials, detection of gases and oils, and in different military and defense applications.

  • Chief of research project for the two years project under title “Design and implementation of a system used in diagnosis and treatment of human teeth using high power laser and photonics” submitted in 2006 and approved in March 2009.
  • Chief of research project subgroup for the three years projects under title “Design and implementation of high-power solid-state laser used in different military applications” submitted in 2006 and approved in 2012.
  • Chief of research project for the three years projects under title “Design and implementation of an active and passive countermeasures systems for the laser guided systems” submitted in 2011 and approved in July 2015.
  • Chief of research project for the two-year project under title “Design and implementation of an active and passive detection of explosive materials (high energetic materials) using Raman Spectroscopy and Hyperspectral Imaging Systems” submitted in 2016 and approved in Jan 2018.
  • Chief of research project for the three years projects under title “Design and implementation of an optical seeker for the laser guided systems” submitted in 2017 and approved in 2020.

Awards/Honorable Mentions

  • July 1998, honored from the former president of Egypt for the best M.Sc. student in MTC for the year 1997 (high-class degree).
  • August 2002, I have been awarded The Rank Prize Funds certificate and prize for the best-contributed paper and the best presentation at the Mini-Symposium on Nonlinear Dynamics of Lasers, 19th to 22nd August, Grasmere, Cumbria, U.K., 2002.
