Dr. Rasha is a Fulbright fellow and molecular microbiologist with over 10 years of diagnostic, research, and teaching experience in Egypt and the United States. She began her career in Tanta University in Egypt, where she earned her M.B.Ch.B., followed by an MSc in Microbiology and Immunology. Afterwards, she was awarded the renowned Fulbright Fellowship in 2011 to pursue her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Illinois in Chicago, USA. Her doctorate and postdoctoral studies in the United States focused on elucidating the epigenetic and transcriptional regulatory mechanisms driving Hepatitis B virus (HBV)
biosynthesis in order to find a radical cure.
Dr. Rasha’s research has been published and presented in a number of prestigious international publications and conferences, including the CSHL meeting and the international HBV meeting. She has also held director-level posts at a number of research institutes in Egypt, both government and corporate.
Dr. Rasha’s current research is focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms governing virus-host interactions.
