Practical Course on Antimicrobial and Antibiofilm Activity Assessment of Nanoparticles

This two-day course is tailored for participants seeking in-depth knowledge and practical skills in evaluating the antimicrobial and antibiofilm properties of nanoparticles for therapeutic use. The program includes hands-on experience in designing, conducting assays, and interpreting results.

Day-1 

  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Welcome address – Nanomaterials as antimicrobial agents: Types, Synthesis methods, and Characterization techniques.
  • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Introduction to Antimicrobial Susceptibility Assays – Importance of standardization of antimicrobial susceptibility testing – Tips and tricks for designing and troubleshooting your assays
  • 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Break
  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Hands-on training: disk diffusion and agar well diffusion using synthesized nanoparticles and interpretation of results

Day-2 

  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Hands-on training: quantitative assessment of antimicrobial activity of nanoparticles using MIC microbroth dilution
  • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Overview of biofilm formation and its significance – Overview of methods used for assessing antibiofilm activity
  • 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Break
  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Hands-on training: assessing antibiofilm activity of synthesized nanoparticles and Interpretation of results
