Galala University Students Gain International Research Experience in South Africa

Galala University continues to provide its students with world-class learning opportunities by promoting international exposure and hands-on research experience. In a landmark initiative, three students from the Molecular Biotechnology Program, under the guidance of Professor Ahmed El-Newishy, traveled to Pretoria, South Africa, to engage with the Biophotonics group at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). This initiative highlights GU’s commitment to bridging academic knowledge with global scientific practice.

During the visit, the students participated in a series of advanced laboratory workshops and research sessions, learning sophisticated techniques that are at the forefront of biomedical and biophotonics research. The training covered state-of-the-art methodologies used in virus detection, cancer diagnostics, and molecular analysis, providing students with the tools to conduct research that meets international standards.

In addition to technical skills, the students benefited from collaborative learning experiences, working alongside South African researchers on ongoing projects. They gained insights into experimental design, data analysis, and laboratory management, equipping them with the competencies needed for high-level biomedical research. The collaboration also fostered cross-cultural scientific exchange, allowing students to understand different research approaches and methodologies applied in international laboratories.

This visit is part of a broader strategy by Galala University to strengthen research partnerships with global institutions, particularly in the field of biotechnology and life sciences, and to prepare students for careers in international scientific research. By participating in such programs, students are not only exposed to cutting-edge technologies but also develop a research mindset focused on innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

The collaboration between GU and CSIR is expected to lead to long-term partnerships, including joint research projects, publications, and potential student exchange programs. By fostering these initiatives, Galala University ensures its students are well-prepared to contribute to solving global health challenges such as viral epidemics, cancer, and other pressing biomedical issues.

Galala University’s dedication to international research exposure reaffirms its mission to provide students with practical, globally relevant skills while nurturing a new generation of scientists who can make meaningful contributions to both national and international scientific communities.
