Galala University Pharmacy Students Visit the Desert Research Center for an Inspiring Educational Experience
As part of Galala University’s mission to provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities, students from the Faculty of Pharmacy embarked on an educational visit to the Desert Research Center (DRC) for a day filled with exploration, knowledge, and inspiration.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the center’s cutting-edge scientific work and had the opportunity to tour the advanced laboratories, where they witnessed firsthand the innovative research and experiments conducted by the center’s specialists. The visit offered valuable insights into how the DRC applies scientific research to address real-world challenges, such as sustainable agriculture, natural product development, and the conservation of Egypt’s desert ecosystems.
One of the highlights of the visit was a presentation delivered by Dr. Hosam Shawky, Vice President for Projects and Research Stations, who gave an in-depth overview of the center’s vision, achievements, and ongoing projects. He emphasized the impact of scientific research on environmental sustainability and community development, inspiring students to think critically about their own role as future pharmacists and researchers in contributing to Egypt’s progress.
This visit provided GU’s Pharmacy students with a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with practical research applications, enhancing their understanding of how interdisciplinary collaboration drives innovation and societal impact. Such experiences reflect Galala University’s commitment to preparing students as future leaders in science, research, and sustainable development.
