Galala University Organizes Specialized Digital Health Workshop to Advance Medical and Technical Skills

In line with its commitment to innovation in the healthcare sector and the ongoing digital transformation of medical services, Galala University organized a specialized three-day workshop under the title:
“Digital Health: Better Practices for Enhanced Outcomes.”

The workshop opened with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi, President of Galala University, who stated: “The rapid advancement in medical technology demands that national universities lead the way in preparing professionals capable of adapting to these changes. This workshop is a real-life example of integrating academic education with practical application in the health sector.”
Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Badry, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at GU, also emphasized the importance of preparing students and staff for the future: “We are committed to equipping our students and faculty with forward-thinking tools and learning experiences rooted in technology and real-world challenges.”

The event featured three interactive workshops led by a distinguished group of experts in digital health, artificial intelligence, medical education, GIS applications, and data analytics. The sessions targeted professionals in the health sector — including doctors, academics, and students — aiming to provide them with the tools to apply modern digital technologies in daily healthcare practices.

Among the participating experts were Dr. Ahmed Mandil, Professor of Epidemiology at Alexandria University and former WHO Research and Innovation Coordinator for the Eastern Mediterranean Region; Dr. Hany Farouk, a global expert in health system strengthening and digital transformation consultant at WHO’s Africa office; Dr. Ahmed Safwat, Chair of the Quality and Accreditation Committee at the American Association of Urgent Care (MENA Branch); Dr. Galal Hassan Galal Eldin, Professor of Information Systems at the American University in Cairo; Dr. Ahmed El Boukl, Deputy Chief Technology Officer at Ain Shams Virtual Hospital; Dr. Yasser Galal, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Galala University; Dr. Hend Yassin, Executive Director of the Genome Lab at the Medical Research Center, Alexandria University; Dr. Lobna El Gammal, Clinical Care and Emergency Medicine Consultant; Dr. Mohamed Ezz, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Al-Azhar University and Visiting Professor at Al-Jouf University in Saudi Arabia; and Eng.
