As part of the ongoing cooperation between Egyptian universities and under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Cairo University hosted a high-level delegation from Galala University to discuss ways of strengthening academic, scientific, and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting addressed several key areas, including exchange of expertise across disciplines, joint research projects, training programs, community service initiatives, and cooperation in organizing conferences, seminars, and scientific workshops.
From Galala University, the delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Ehab El-Sayed Hassanein, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, expressed his pride in visiting Cairo University, describing it as “a prestigious institution that has produced generations of scholars and experts we are all proud of.” He also emphasized Galala University’s commitment to welcoming Cairo University’s distinguished professors as academic partners, working together to advance education and scientific research.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. El-Shinawi extended his congratulations to Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek, President of Cairo University, on the commencement of studies at Cairo University’s National Branch, wishing it continued success. He also highlighted the unique partnership between Galala University and Arizona State University (ASU)—the first of its kind in Egypt—offering students world-class academic programs and marking a significant step in international education within the country.
He added that Egypt’s recent expansion to over 130 universities reflects the national vision of strengthening and diversifying higher education opportunities. At the end of his remarks, Prof. Dr. El-Shinawi officially invited the President of Cairo University to attend Galala University’s second graduation ceremony on September 25, 2025.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek welcomed Galala University’s delegation, stressing that cooperation among Egyptian universities is a cornerstone for supporting education and research. He reaffirmed Cairo University’s commitment to placing its expertise at the service of national universities, thereby contributing to the development of generations capable of competing regionally and internationally.
He also pointed out that academic and scientific partnerships between Egyptian and international universities—such as Galala University’s collaboration with Arizona State University—represent an outstanding model for enhancing the quality of higher education in Egypt.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two universities signed a joint cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing academic and scientific exchange, supporting joint research projects, organizing training programs, workshops, and conferences, and opening new opportunities for faculty and student exchange between Cairo University and Galala University.
