Orientation Days 2025 – Welcome Galalians to the academic year of 2025/2026!
The campus woke up early and never really sat down. Buses rolled into Galala City, bags in tow, and by mid-morning the courtyards were a map of first handshakes: students finding their faculties, parents meeting advisors, club tables trading stickers for questions. Orientation at GU isn’t a single briefing—it’s two fast days of learning where everything happens: classrooms, labs, performance spaces, sports courts, the little corners that become your places.
A quick tour of the first hours: a brisk hello from academic advisors, then straight to program huddles where coordinators unpacked timetables, credit loads, and the one thing every first-year wants to know—what a good week actually looks like. Lab guides led mini-walkthroughs (safety first, always), the studios showed how critique works, and the learning commons crew explained where to find writing help, data support, and that quiet table with perfect light.
Between stops, student clubs turned the green into a pop-up fair. Debaters coaxed sign-ups with a one-minute challenge, the media team filmed “day one” snippets, and service clubs pitched weekend projects that make a dent close to home. Sports crews pulled newcomers into short drills and pick-up games; fine arts set up a communal sketch wall that filled with doodles, quotes, and a few very determined architectural elevations.
Expectations were clear without feeling heavy: show up, ask early, use the tools. Faculty left students with small, doable actions—bookmark the LMS, meet your peer mentor this week, schedule a study block you’ll actually keep. And because university is more than a timetable, the evening program swapped slides for community—music on the steps, a campus walk at golden hour, and a “find-your-people” mixer that matched interests across faculties.
A few first-semester promises floated around the plaza: courage to try things, care for each other, curiosity as a habit. That’s the #GU spirit—serious about learning, generous with time, and ambitious together. These orientation days aren’t the whole story; they’re the opening scene.
