The attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 5, which is Gender Equality, remains very important at Galala University. The university embraces the importance of creating an enabling environment in which all sexes have equal opportunities to grow and prosper freely.
The Role of the Equal Opportunity Unit
Galala University is committed to gender equity, nondiscrimination, and respect for all individuals through its Equal Opportunity Unit. This unit plays a major role under the umbrella of efficient leadership, implementing programs and activities to meet differing needs, solving challenges, or supporting gender differences within the university.
Efforts by the Equal Opportunity Unit
Workshops and Training: The Equal Opportunity Unit organizes workshops and training sessions regularly to sensitize people regarding gender issues and encourage a culture of respect and inclusiveness. Policy Advocacy: In close collaboration with the university leadership, the unit advocates for the development and implementation of policies that support gender equality and prevent any form of discrimination based on gender.
Supportive Services: The unit offers supportive services to students, staff, and faculty who might have faced gender discrimination and harassment; it offers a secure environment in which persons can seek help and advice.
Research and Support: The Equal Opportunities Unit contributes to the ever-growing body of information on gender equality through its research work and advocacy for change in the university and society at large.
Collaboration and Partnerships: The unit partners with external organizations, government agencies, and civil society in leveraging resources and expertise to enhance the progress of gender equality initiatives.
