BASIC AND APPLIED SCIENCES FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION (GU-ICFBASSI, I-2025)

Winter School on Laser Applications for One Health: Enhancing Food Security and Combating Human Diseases

The “Laser Applications for One Health” winter school offers a comprehensive training experience focused on the integration of laser technology to enhance food security and combat human diseases, including cancer. The program addresses critical challenges in agriculture and healthcare by exploring innovative laser applications for crop monitoring, pest control, food quality assessment, disease detection, and cancer diagnosis and treatment. Participants will engage in lectures, and hands-on workshops to understand how laser technology can be leveraged to improve food production, ensure food safety, detect and treat diseases, and enhance overall health. The winter school aims to equip participants with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills to address food security and health issues through advanced laser applications. By the program’s conclusion, participants possess a holistic understanding of the synergies between biotechnology, laser-related technologies, climate change, water food security and one health. Equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge, they are empowered to drive transformative change and contribute innovative solutions to global food security challenges.
