MS Medical Nutrition

The Master of Science in Medical Nutrition prepares health professionals to understand the critical role of nutrition in health maintenance, disease prevention, and the treatment of medical conditions. The program integrates scientific knowledge with clinical applications, enabling graduates to support evidence-based nutrition interventions across health care settings.

Through coursework and culminating experiences, students gain a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic diets and the role of qualified health care providers in diet prescription. The curriculum emphasizes nutrition across the lifespan, medical nutrition therapy, chronic disease prevention, and the relationship between diet, inflammation, and metabolic disorders.

Transfer eligibility is subject to student performance in bridge courses and Arizona State University transfer requirements. A maximum of 12 graduate-level credit hours with a minimum grade of B may be transferred. Pre-admission credits must be completed within three years prior to ASU admission.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, biology, chemistry, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Students must be in the 6th semester of four-year programs or the 8th semester of five-year programs
  • Internship students may register during the first or second year of internship
  • Completion of prerequisite courses in anatomy and physiology and introductory nutrition
  • Minimum grade of B in all courses
  • Courses remain valid for three years
