Galala University’s Field of Art and Design Wins EU-Funded iHERITAGE Project to Preserve Egyptian Cultural Heritage

Galala University continues to strengthen its reputation as a hub for creativity, innovation, and global collaboration. The Field of Arts and Design has proudly achieved another milestone by winning an EU-funded iHERITAGE project in cooperation with WARD IT, marking a significant step forward in the university’s mission to combine art, technology, and heritage preservation.

The iHERITAGE project is part of the European Union’s efforts to promote cultural innovation through digital technology. It focuses on using Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance the way people experience and interact with historical sites. The project’s Egyptian activities will take place at one of the world’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites—The Pyramids Field from Giza to Dahshur. Through advanced VR and AR applications, visitors will be able to explore Egypt’s ancient wonders in a more immersive and educational way.

A cooperation protocol was officially signed in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi, Acting President of Galala University; Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hanno, Dean of the Field of Arts and Design; and Dr. Alaa Ezz, Secretary General of the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA).

This collaboration reflects Galala University’s commitment to Egypt’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes sustainable development, innovation, and the preservation of national heritage. It also reinforces GU’s role in bridging the gap between creativity and technology, empowering students and faculty to contribute to global initiatives that celebrate and protect humanity’s shared history.
