Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Inaugurates the 2nd International Dental Conference at Galala University

Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, H.E. Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, inaugurated the 2nd International Dental Conference (GIDC 2025), organized by the Faculty of Dentistry at Galala University from September 17–19, 2025.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the Egyptian state’s commitment to investing in human capital and advancing scientific research as fundamental pillars for building a strong healthcare system. He stressed that hosting international conferences in Egyptian universities strengthens their position as regional research hubs and contributes to developing medical professionals in line with the latest global advancements.

Delivering the opening scientific lecture titled “Dental Implant Technologies”, Dr. Abdel Ghaffar presented the latest treatment solutions and highlighted the transformative role of artificial intelligence and modern therapeutic protocols. He affirmed that such applications open promising horizons for Egypt to position itself as a distinguished regional hub in dentistry.

The opening ceremony was attended by high-profile figures, including Major General Tarek El Shazly, Governor of Suez; Major General Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai; H.E. Sameh Shoukry, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Galala University’s Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hatem, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi, President of Galala University; and Prof. Dr. Ihab Hassanein, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Chair of the Conference.

Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hatem stated that the conference reflects Egypt’s growing role as a regional hub for science and knowledge, serving as a bridge for collaboration with global medical institutions and technology transfer to Egyptian universities. Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi added that Galala University aims to establish a pioneering smart university model that integrates education, research, and community service, while Prof. Dr. Ihab Hassanein emphasized the faculty’s commitment to continuous medical education and capacity building for both faculty and practitioners.

Held under the theme “Innovative Smiles… Changing Lives”, the conference brings together more than 150 international speakers, features over 15 specialized workshops, and hosts an exhibition showcasing the latest technologies in dentistry. The program covers key themes, including artificial intelligence in dental practice, advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, and the role of research in improving healthcare services. It also features student competitions and community engagement activities, reinforcing the link between research and societal needs.

This event reflects Egypt’s national strategy to promote continuous medical education, nurture highly qualified medical professionals, and enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.
