Galala University Congratulates Dr. Hany Moustafa on Receiving the Lionel-Boulet Award at the 2025 Quebec Awards

Galala University extends its proud congratulations to Dr. Hany Moustafa, Chief Executive Officer of the Innovation Network for sdgs (Canada) and Advisor to the University President for Research and Innovation, on receiving the Lionel-Boulet Award as part of the 2025 Quebec Awards. The award is considered the highest distinction granted by the Government of Quebec in the fields of science and culture.

This honor recognizes Dr. Moustafa’s exceptional career spanning more than three decades in aviation and aerospace. Throughout his journey, he has exemplified leadership in research and development, strengthened cooperation between universities and industry, and supported new generations of researchers and engineers.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed El Shinawi, President of Galala University, congratulated Dr. Moustafa on this achievement, emphasizing that the award is an important addition to the university and its academic community. He noted that Dr. Moustafa’s recognition reflects the global value of Egyptian minds and their ability to compete and lead internationally. Prof. El Shinawi also highlighted that having a scientific figure of Dr. Moustafa’s stature within Galala University supports the institution’s vision of becoming an international, innovation-driven university centered on advanced scientific research.

Commenting on the recognition, Dr. Moustafa expressed his appreciation for receiving the Lionel-Boulet Award, describing it as a tribute to a long professional path combining scientific research, industrial development, and academic work. He dedicated the honor to ambitious youth and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening research and innovation at Galala University and in Egypt, while expanding international cooperation that advances scientific and industrial progress.

Dr. Moustafa embodies the spirit of the Lionel-Boulet Award through his deep dedication to applied research and cross-sector collaboration. He is widely regarded as one of North America’s leading aviation and aerospace experts, with a significant impact on propulsion technologies and modern aircraft development.

Before joining École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Université du Québec in 2010, Dr. Moustafa spent more than three decades at Pratt & Whitney Canada, where he held several senior leadership roles, including Director of Technology Programs and Technical Training Programs. In 2011, he was appointed Senior Research Fellow, a distinction awarded to a select group of top scientists worldwide.

At ÉTS, Dr. Moustafa founded AéroETS, a specialized center that serves as a strategic bridge between academia and industry. He also co-founded the CRIAQ Consortium for aviation innovation, established the Montreal Aerospace Institute (IAM), and played a pivotal role in building the foundations of Quebec’s aerospace innovation networks.

Dr. Moustafa additionally represents Canada in NATO’s Applied Vehicle Technology (AVT) industrial group and serves on multiple boards and research initiatives inside and outside Canada. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 scientific publications and received around 30 prestigious awards, including the National Order of Quebec (Knight, 2013), the James C. Floyd Award (2012), and the ADRIQ Industrial Career Award (2007).
