The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at Galala University was honored to welcome Dr. Rafik Ragheb, a distinguished guest speaker from Canada, for a two-day academic visit that combined professional training, educational engagement, and international collaboration.
Dr. Rafik Ragheb, Ph.D., is a clinical scientist and biochemist (CSCC), a licensed healthcare professional practicing Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLT) through CMLTO/CSMLS since 1996, and a licensed Laboratory Director in Ontario in the class of Biochemistry since 1999. In 2015, he founded CMID Inc., a company specializing in medical diagnostics and laboratory consulting.
On Monday, October 6, 2025, the faculty hosted a scientific workshop titled “Advanced Technology in Laboratory Medicine.” The session introduced students to modern laboratory innovations such as automation systems, molecular platforms, and artificial intelligence tools, showcasing their applications in improving diagnostic accuracy, workflow efficiency, and quality management. The workshop was open to all students and provided valuable insight into current trends shaping the future of medical laboratory sciences.
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a specialized Quality Session was held for fourth-year students enrolled in Laboratory Quality Management III (MLT421). Dr. Ragheb delivered lectures and laboratory demonstrations focusing on practical aspects of quality assurance in clinical laboratories. This session gave students the opportunity to engage directly with the course instructor, deepening their understanding before continuing the online component of the course during the Fall Term.
In addition, an open discussion was held to guide students on exploring educational and training opportunities in Canada and communicating effectively with international academic institutions.
During the visit, official meetings took place between Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, Prof. Dr. Adel Ahmed El-Gad, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Rafik Ragheb, focusing on expanding academic cooperation and developing new educational opportunities within the faculty.
The two-day visit reflected the faculty’s ongoing commitment to innovation, experiential learning, and international collaboration in the field of medical laboratory sciences.
