Galala University Pioneers Global Classroom Experience in Pharmacy Education

Galala University continues to lead the way in educational innovation with the successful implementation of a pioneering global classroom experience in the Faculty of Pharmacy. This initiative, designed to enhance the “PMB509 Infection Control” course, has created a vibrant, cross-cultural learning environment that equips students to confront global health challenges with knowledge, confidence, and compassion.

Under the coordination of Associate Professor Dr. Mariam Hassan Haikal, Course Coordinator of PMB509, the program introduced an advanced, interactive format that blended academic rigor with global collaboration. The course went beyond conventional instruction, fostering critical thinking and interdisciplinary dialogue among students.

A highlight of the initiative was the impactful involvement of Professor Dr. Hanan Ayoub from Atlantis Centers / Sunrise University (USA), who introduced students to the groundbreaking principles of Quantum Integrative Medicine (QIM). Her visionary perspective challenged students to explore new frontiers in infection control by bridging traditional medical approaches with quantum science and holistic health practices.

The program reached its peak with a dynamic online workshop held on June 30, 2025, titled “Instrumental Microbiology & Quantum Infection Control: Advancing Detection and Prevention.” This event brought together over 90 pharmacy students from Galala University and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Philippines) in a collaborative learning space.

Co-led by Dr. Mariam Hassan Haikal and Mr. Joseph Valen Bisin Roales, RPh, MSc (Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao), the workshop explored innovative microbial detection tools, global biosafety frameworks, and the role of communication in science. By addressing the importance of translating complex scientific ideas into accessible language, the program emphasized that effective healthcare extends beyond labs and clinics—it also depends on clear public engagement and global cooperation.

This global classroom initiative exemplifies Galala University’s commitment to academic excellence, internationalization, and innovation. By connecting students and faculty across Egypt, the Philippines, and the United States, the program strengthens Galala’s role as a regional leader in transformative higher education.

It also directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing equitable access to global learning resources, fosters SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the integration of modern infection control knowledge, and promotes SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by encouraging cross-border academic collaboration and shared expertise.
